About Us

We've been figuring out how bodies work since 1997.

Driven by curiosity, since 1997

Why do bodies respond so differently?

Why do bodies respond so differently?

We followed the exercise rules. Some clients progressed. Others didn't. We knew there was more.

That restlessness became Integra. Anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, neuroscience, performance science, manual therapy, lifestyle, mindfulness. Each one opened a new question and changed how the work is done. Over fifty thousand hours of hands-on practice. Three decades of asking better questions.

What we learned: exercise works when it fits the person. There's no single right way. There is only what works, for this person, in this context, at this time.

There's always more to discover.

Founder

Michael Goulden

Michael founded Integra in 1997 with a simple question: why do some people progress while others don't?

Three decades later, that question still shapes the work. Every exercise is treated as an experiment. Every rep is data. The result is a training process built around the person in front of us: their structure, goals, history, and response.

Through Integra EDU, Michael teaches the same approach to personal trainers across the UK, Europe, and globally.

We train the trainers

The approach we use in the studio is the same approach we teach to trainers around the world.

Through Integra EDU, we offer workshops covering anatomy, assessment, exercise design, and program design. Online and in-person.

That same approach shapes the work we do with you here.

Every body tells a different story. We've spent twenty-nine years learning how to read them.

Our Space

The Lab

01

Private environment

Natural light. No crowds. Maximum three clients at any time.

02

Customised equipment

Resistance: Cybex, Eleiko, Atlantis, Freemotion, Voltra I. Cardio: TechnoGym, WattBike. Cam profiles, lever systems, and cable arrangements selected over 29 years for what they actually do mechanically.

03

Assessment and measurement

VO2 Master for metabolic analysis. Moxy Monitors for real-time muscle-oxygen response. Zone X to measure ventilatory thresholds and refine your training zones. Dynamometers for objective force and strength data. Measurement that shapes the work as it happens.

04

The coaching

Live cueing, communication, and micro-adjustments based on what we see in the moment. The eyes and decisions that turn the space and equipment into a coached session.
